Welcome to the official website of the Riverhead Town Democratic Committee. I’m Laura Jens-Smith, and I am honored to serve as Chair of this dedicated organization.
Riverhead stands at an important moment. In 2025, voters chose balance and accountability by electing Jerry Halpin as Town Supervisor in an abbreviated one-year term. That progress is now on the ballot again. Re-electing Supervisor Halpin in 2026 is essential to continuing responsible fiscal management, transparent decision-making, and thoughtful planning that protects our community’s character.
At a time when our nation faces deep political division and challenges to democratic norms, local leadership matters more than ever. The strength of our country begins in our towns. Here in Riverhead, we believe government must be ethical, responsive, and grounded in facts — not partisanship or one-party control.
Our committee is made up of neighbors, volunteers, and community members committed to electing leaders who put people first and defend democratic values at every level of government.
